Unique  has continuously demonstrated their commitment to Cal Poly Humboldt and to the Department of Critical Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies through in-class dialogue, coursework, and  encouraging their peers to challenge their own biases and privilege to expand their knowledge on the history and experiences of marginalized groups. Unique is a strong advocate for students navigating the difficulties of the pandemic and has created a sense of community among their peers in a virtual environment. They have extended this sense of community and leadership through their work in the CouRaGeouS Cuentos production team, where they are leading the visual art and book design component for the journal. They have brought together students in the class for collective decision making and  invited local community artists to contribute their art and voices to the journal. 

Unique has applied what they have learned in CRGS classes to the programming and events they have hosted at El Centro, which serve the university and wider community. They have been an exemplary example of what combining theory with practical application successfully can look like.Congratulations Unique!
