Ruby Cayenne is the Editor-in-Chief of Osprey magazine for Spring 2024 and served as Managing Editor in 2023. Ruby has also served as news editor and production editor on El Leñador, the bilingual student newspaper at Cal Poly Humboldt in 2023. On both publications, Ruby put in above and beyond the expected hours of leadership and service during the publication process from start to finish. She mentored student reporters, supported their idea-finding, reporting and writing, edited stories and photos, laid out pages of content, and made sure the final publications were turned in to the Western Web printers on deadline. She has managed these publications while working as a legal secretary for Attorney Shannon Wilhite, as a grant writer for All Relations (a nonprofit), as an intern for Humboldt Surfrider, as a freelance writer for regional publications, as a multimedia journalist for Access Humboldt, as a leader of Cal Poly Humboldt's Journalism Club, and as a full-time Cal Poly Humboldt student with a 4.0 Humboldt GPA and an overall GPA of 3.91. Ruby is the rare Renaissance student who manages multiple roles. Her ability to balance academic, extracurricular, work, internship, and leadership responsibilities on and off campus speaks to her exceptional dedication and commitment to succeed, while supporting her peers and leaving a positive legacy on the world around her. Ruby Cayenne is truly the epitome of an outstanding student.
