In the words of her nominator: 

Janaee’ works to bridge people & communities to ensure her peers and the community feel welcome on and off-campus. Janaee’ has dedicated her undergraduate career to student activism. Through her work in various organizations, Janaee’ is leaving a legacy at HSU. Her work in the African American Center for Academic Excellence (AACAE) has led many of her peers to become more involved with the Center. Once Janaee’ began working as the Student Assistant for ODEI she continued her relationship with the AACAE where they held meetings to support the Equity Arcata working group that focuses on Police and Student Safety. Janaee’ also served as the President of Legacy, being of service, learning, and leading with future Black, Indigenous, & People of Color (BIPOC) female-identifying students in networking, sisterhood, & community service.
