In the words of his nominator: 

DJ has received the accolade of Presidential scholar for all 3 of his 3 semesters here. While maintaining his excellent GPA, DJ has managed to run our team social media page, participate in practices/voluntary zoom workouts (whichever we were able to perform at the time) and perform duties as the Vice President for our men’s rowing club team since the Fall ‘20. He is passionate about his degree. He wants to teach people how to manage their health through exercise. He knows that physical activity can be fun and not a chore if taught well. It is through this pursuit he has ended up with a local internship with a business that  focuses on functional training, as well as injury rehabilitation and prevention. He hopes to learn more while putting his classes into practice, help his community, and gain skills  to one day start a business of his own.
