Albert Ochoa Castillo

Chemistry

Albert has shown a commitment to Cal Poly Humboldt and his academic discipline since his first year as a student through getting involved with research, joining clubs and professional societies, presenting his research, and being a mentor for the RAMP program. Albert has been involved in a variety of different research, including:  Marine Mammal Stranding Program, Marine Mammal Education and Research Program (MMERP) and studying organic photovoltaic compounds. Additionally, Albert was awarded a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) internship at UC Santa Cruz during Summer 2021 working on a materials science project. 

Albert has also been involved with the Indian Natural Resource Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP) and Diversity in STEM house since his first year. He has been a part of campus clubs and professional societies, including: The Free Radicals Chemistry Club, the Pre-Medical Society , the  Math Club, the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). He presented his research at the Fall 2021 SACNAS meeting, and will be presenting at the ACS meeting this Spring. Congratulations Albert!
