Michael Carlo Castellino

Environmental Resource Engineering

Michael joined Humboldt Men’s Crew in the Spring of 2021 when Rec Sports Clubs were fully virtual. Michael came reliably to voluntary practices and trained hard. Michael leads by example, both at practice and academics. He is always in attendance whether voluntary or mandatory. This season we practiced five days a week, plus asked members to do two optional lift sessions, which meant approximately 15+ hours of Michael’s week was dedicated to crew practice. He brings the athletic energy and drive to take his boats to podium performances and holds the fastest 6k time on the current team as a walk-on athlete.

In Fall 2021, Michael became our team's Travel Secretary while enrolled in 13 engineering units.  His major, Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE) is one of the most difficult on campus.  Since transferring to Humboldt, he has made the Dean’s list or been a Presidential scholar. Michael embodies what it means to be an “Outstanding Student” on our campus. He works hard and always puts forth his best effort.

Congratulations Michael!
