Thesis or Project Title: Uncertainty, Populist Deprivation Rhetoric, and Extremism

Crane is a creative and deep thinker, an excellent writer, demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as on teams, and displays excellent knowledge of theory, methodology and data analysis. More than this, Crane is a leader in the Psychology Department. They have presented research on social identity theory, populism, and uncertainty at several regional and international conferences and currently lead several research projects in the Psych Department's Social Identity Lab. They also are responsible for leading a Humboldt County wide survey on policing and policing oversight (partnering with several agencies). They have served as a teaching assistant for several classes, which further demonstrates their mastery of the field of Social Psychology. Crane uses their own personal past struggles to build the lives and careers of their fellow students. They are a true pillar of perseverance, work ethic, and kindness. They are a community activist and leader both on campus and in the larger community, donating their time to providing space for the voices of marginalized communities.
